Toughing It Out in Afghanistan Book

I felt this was definitely informative regarding the details of the Western World's dire situation in this God forsaken land.
The authors argue that the present (2010) counter insurgency strategy is the proper approach for NATO, although they are very clear that the strategy may well fail. They state that if it does fail then we will have to fall back on the much lower resourced and less dangerous counter terrorism strategy of the Bush administration.
Given the facts they lay out I see little chance the present strategy can succeed.
In any event we cannot allow the Taliban to regain control of the country and we have to stay positioned to prevent Pakistan from falling into the hands of fanatics.
