Readers of this edition will find a number of significant changes in addition to the usual updated material in all chapters and subchapters. Staphylococcosis, Riemerella anatipestifer (previously Pasteurella anatipestifer), and infectious anemia have been expanded to full chapter status, and intestinal spirochetosis and Mycoplasma iowae infection have each been accorded chapter status. This edition also represents an effort to improve the illustrations. Nearly one quarter of the 414 black and white photographs are new, and the number of color plates has more than doubled to 25 (of these, 20 are totally or partially new).
The book contains predominantly black-and-white illustrations, with some color illustrations.
