Japanese Americans: The Formation and Transformations of an Ethnic Group
I have long had an interest in Asian-American immigrant literature, art, and experiences and a particular interest in the internment of Japanese Americans. Mostly I have read memoirs, autobiographies and novels on the topic so Spikard's book really helped me gain context and background. I really enjoyed reading this book and found it academic but also well written and accessible. I particularly liked learning about the legal background of the internment and the later redress movements and I liked the inclusion of the charts and demographic information (In another life I will be a demographer) My favorite sections were the two wonderful bibliographic essays - I loved finding so many titles that I had read and have a long list of new titles to pursue. Thank you Diana for giving me this book.
