Turning people on to the sport was incredible because we were going places where there wasn't anyone else. At one point I was pushing the bike up a hill, when I heard a loud snort and saw a moose charging at me.. I like sitting in a café near the end of the day and looking at a bunch of my bikes covered with mud.Mountain biking really has become a culture. It's not just a gadget freak's hobby. It's not just about competition, but a way of life that holds together very different kinds of people who share a love of riding. I love the peacefulness of it; and sometimes the on-the-edge screaming part of it, too. I get stronger, braver, smarter, and more coordinated when I ride. Mountain biking is and integral part of our modern identities, transcending generations, income levels, geographic boundaries, and physical capabilities. It is a vehicle for competition, commerce, artistic expression, fashion, friendly association, and pilgrimage.
