Eastern Front Combat: The German Soldier in Battle from Stalingrad to Berlin
Fairly good book. Most of the content is with regard to the attack on Stalingrad and the encirclement and surviving the collapse. The remaining content were short personal stories of experiencing the collapse of the Eastern front and retreat to Berlin. What is very apparent is the much vaulted reputation of the organization, employment and efficiency of the German armed forces is truly a myth! The gross incompetence of the senior staff officers from mid 1943 to April 1945 is astonishing! I don't think many of them read Von Clausewitz "On War" or Sun Tsu.
