The Man God Uses Book

I was given this book by Leon Edwards and enjoyed reading through it. Like a lot of Blackaby's stuff it does not break any new ground, but does a good job of stating the need for commitment on our part to the Lord. I suppose if I were to say one element of this book that is a bit different it would be the emphasis on the local church. I think this is due to Blackaby's work as a pastor and a church planter. I think he has seen the church as a critical element in his own spiritual development and in that of those that he has ministered to. The volume also does a good job of bringing together some very good quotes on the devotional life.

I suppose that one of the things I liked best about this book was the ease of reading it. It was a quick and enjoyable read. I think it is the kind of book that I could recommend to a men's Bible study group. It also has a discussion guide at the back to make it even more useful. I think it is the sort of book that Neal Thomsen would really get a kick out of.
