Feynman's lectures, and for that matter Feynman himself, were moments in history preserved now in the memory of generations of physicists. They would not have had this volume to squirrel into their memory had Michael Gottleib and Ralph Leighton not decided to mine recordings and photographs of these four missing review lectures and reconstruct them with the aid of Feynman's colleagues. The topics include an introduction (including differentiation, vectors, line integrals and commentary on "Caltech from the bottom"), laws and intuition, problems and solutions (including material on satellite motion and chemical rockets) and dynamical effects and their applications, closing with selected exercises and their answers. Gottleib and Leighton include a forward by Matthew Sands and a very nice photo of Feynman with his bongos. Annotation ©2005 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR
