Mokie and Bik live on a boat called Bullfrog. Now that their father has come home from the illy-ally-o, the twins are ready to take Bullfrog out to sea. First, though, they need to shipshape!

Soon Mokie and Bik are saving a runaway boat, making friends with a scaredy-seal, and keeping track of a Waggles with A Lot to Learn. Life with the twins is always a rollicky frolicking adventure!

Children's Literature

The twins are back in another wild adventure complete with clever and inventive language. With their father home from sailing on the illy-ally-o, life aboard the Bullfrog is never dull. Mokie and Bik help to get the boat shipshape for a voyage, rescue Waggles when he falls overboard and "scrabble paddled straight out to sea," save the Bullfrog when Dad is accidentally left behind on the wharf, pluck a bottle from the water that does not hold a pirate's treasure map only "stinky salty slime," and make friends with a scared seal. The clever word play and tongue-twisting language may be troublesome for young readers, but read aloud the rhythmic tale moves along like a swift ocean breeze. The pencil sketches are as energetic and whimsical as the tale itself. Reviewer: Beverley Fahey
