Seek the Peace of the City: Reflections on Urban Ministry Book

A brother who knows how to speak. Villafane addresses several subject matters related to education in da hood. Although not stuck just on education, there are thoughts on 'urban' ministry in general. He fuses his writing with both an academic as well as a preaching voice. At times however, that voice is too far above the ground where it needs to be heard. Maybe it's the language of that crust in society whom barely walks the streets. Anyway, I must say that what I enjoy most is the emphasis on coming alongside the poor and their true concerns as essential toward true education. He speaks of institutions contextualizing education and at one point asking the question "Is it sensitive to the widespread gap between the academic and the practical?" I don't know how much that gap has narrowed, but I still sense after living in the city all my life, that this disparity is still too far apart.
