Spiritual Care for Persons with Dementia Book

This book was written with pastoral care persons in mind as they seek to understand the disease and understand the people dealing with the disease of dementia. The book contains contributions to the conversation of dementia by a variety of authors including chaplains, RNs, and administrators of CCRC facilities. Some helpful pieces of information include assembling remembrance packets that include special spiritual items for residents, engaging in familiar tasks such as shaking hands or brushing teeth to maintain connection, and remembering that dementia is an "inner wilderness" in a society that truly frowns on forgetfulness. It also included a helpful litany of questions to restore hope to the hopeless: "how do you pull yourself up when you are down" and "do you think there is a purpose to your dementia and what might that be?"
