The Parable of Joy : Reflections on the Wisdom of the Book of John
I picked up this book when my communications professor from my Bible college was giving away his books. So, I read this as a devotional this summer, and I have to say that this holds up pretty well.
Often times when I was younger when I read John's gospel, I got kind of confused compared to others who were often encouraged to read John as an introduction of the gospel itself. I don't know how that works for some people, but I think if I were to introduce anyone through John's gospel, it'd be with this book with Card's reflections. I appreciate his footnotes and creative reflections ranging from his thoughts to little snippets of fanfiction of different people that appear in that gospel (such as the man who missing with the woman who committed adultery; that was really good).
I may read this again sometime soon if I feel up to reading John again.
