Even as he says the words, "Toby" Tobin, Irish-American computer hacker, knows it's useless to resist. His late great-uncle's will must be obeyed, and his family is determined to make him respectable by his twenty-fifth birthday.

Encouraged by a photo of his cousin, Sara Anne Elizabeth Tobin, with her gorgeous black hair, blue eyes, and pale skin, Toby checks his computer for travel arrangements to Ireland. He finds himself chatting with an unusual travel agent, Raphaella, a very modern angel, who's been surfing the net for someone to look after.

Raphaella gives him a new passport and first-class plane tickets out of O'Hare, and the encouragement and good humor he'll need on his quest for a living grail—the beautiful, mysterious, troubled, young Sara Tobin. He must marry Sara within the month (and solve an ancient mystery and elude a threatening thug) in order to claim his inheritance.

Angel Light is based on the Book of Tobis in the Old Testament, one of the sweetest love stories ever told.

According to prolific writer-priest Greeley, his latest novel, a lighthearted romance, is based on the biblical book of Tobit, which does not appear in most Protestant bibles. In Greeley's modern interpretation, Toby Tobin, a self-described nerd and computer hacker from Chicago, is the benefactor of a multimillion-dollar bequest from his eccentric great-uncle. The conditions of the will state that Toby has one month to woo and marry his distant Irish cousin, Sara. Befuddled Toby is undecided about whether to accept this challenge, and then an attractive "high-class angel" enters his life and not only makes all his travel plans (first class, of course) but furnishes him with clothing, advice, and some otherworldly perks. After numerous mishaps and miscues, the two distant cousins tie the knot in Ireland. Although the story line bears promise, the conflicts Greeley engineers--Irish Republican Army terrorist attacks and Sara's past history of sexual abuse (she's been raped not once but twice)--seem formulaic. Also, Toby's obsession with female anatomy (breasts in particular) and clothing styles (the women all seem to wear "tight-fitting tank tops" and "thigh-high skirts" ) grows tiresome. Greeley's fans well may find this billowy romantic adventure an entertaining diversion. Those desiring more substantial fiction, with a modicum of character development, will have to look elsewhere.
