This poetry book is filled with goofy poems. I liked the nonsense filled book, and think kids would really like them too.
Purpose
Read aloud for enrichment
Students would enjoy how light hearted this poetry book is, especially since most students expect poetry to be boring. There are also lots of different topics the poetry is written about. This would allow for many different reasons to read them. There is one about love letters that can be read around valentines day, and one that is about cheering up when your sad.
The vocabulary in this book varies in each poem, so this book could be for a wide range of students. I'd say 1st grade to 4th.Some of the vocabulary is nincompoop, overjoyed and momentous.
Read aloud for curricular purposes:
This book would be a great intro to poetry because it is so fun and children would have a blast hearing such funny poetry and looking at the fabulous illustrations.
