I was extremely impressed with Rodriguez Wallach's first young adult novel. The fresh, well-paced story was completely absent of the common clichés found in the YA genre. The characters are realistic and compelling, and are creatively developed throughout the book in a way that shows maturity beyond what you would expect from a debut author. My favorite part was certainly the end, which provides an unexpected twist that cleverly excites the reader to pick up the sequel.
