A young girl visits her uncle's bakery with her mother and together they use all their senses to enjoy their visit.
All five senses get to enjoy this little girl's visit to her Uncle's bakery. She can hear the clanging of the pans as Uncle pulls them off a shelf. Then she can see the fruit and nuts that are going into the dough, smell all the delicious aromas from the bakery treats, and touch the icing bag as she drizzles it over the buns. But the very best of all is tasting some of the buns they have so lovingly made. Your mouth will be watering by the end of this story and you may just have to run out to the bakery. The final pages, however, do contain a recipe for a delicious apple pie, one I might try to make myself. A Level B book in the "Compass Point Early Reader" series. 2002, Compass Point Books, $18.60. Ages 5 to 7. Reviewer:Marilyn Courtot
