Having been a victim of burnout, I was looking for a method to help me to avoid or recover more quickly from excessive stress. I delved into Banishing Burnout and found it very helpful.

A psychologist, Herbert Freudenthal coined the term 'burnout'. Burnout is defined in Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary as "the condition of someone who has become very physically and emotionally tired after doing a difficult job for a long time." This tells us three things 1) burnout is job-related 2) burnout is a condition 3) burnout is characterized by stress, depression, cynicism, and hopelessness.
