Written for the earliest of readers, this book about cats combines simple and repetitive sentences with tactile special effects. The thick pages of the book, actually several pieces of cardboard glued together, contain embedded pieces of fur, felt, and cloth. Readers are able to stroke at least two cats on each page for different feels of tummies, tales, ears, and noses. The text describes the cats playing, washing, climbing, jumping, and sleeping. With only ten pages and five sentences, the book will work best for those children just learning to read, while even pre-readers can run their hands along the textures in the book as an older student or adult reads to them. In general, the pieces of fur contained in the pages holds together well though several fine strands come lose on occasion meaning this book, while probably durable for several years, will not hold together forever.
