Bloody River Blues (John Pellam Series #2) Book

I liked this better than the first in the trilogy, perhaps because my expectations were not high. These were originally published under a pseudonym, I'm not sure why, and are pretty dated. John Pellam is a movie location scout working on a film shooting in a small Missouri town, when accidentally becomes a witness to a contract killing, although he actually knows a lot less than the bad guys, police, FBI and over-ambitious assistant DA think he does.
Pellam is a strange rather amoral hero, not particularly likeable, although trying to do the right thing, sort of. He makes friends with the police officer who was shot in the spine during the attack and left paralysed, and picks up a floozy in the hospital for the obligatory love interest.
This was a quick read, and I will finish the series since I already have it, but am glad it ends there as I far prefer his Lincoln Rhyme books.
