Presents a brief biography of the first African-American woman to travel into space.
Gr 2-4-Slim, straightforward biographies of space explorers. Each title begins with a brief description of the person's most significant career highlight. Facts about the subject's childhood and brief career chronologies follow. Information is provided in short sentences. Christa McAuliffe is matter of fact in tone and mentions her death on the first page. All the books feature one full-page photo per spread, large-print texts, and clear captions. A smattering of words is defined on the page, highlighted by a rather confusing graphic. In addition, the words seem somewhat arbitrarily chosen; some of them are also included in the brief glossaries. These titles may interest children needing easy biographies or very basic information on the U.S. space program.-Ellen M. Riordan, Enoch Pratt Free Library, Baltimore, MD Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
