Vegemate ... very Aussie 😂 I know it happens! It reminds me of a friend of mine. Vegemate means: an Australian pal who sends you supplies of Vegemite while you are overseas.
In Japan, it might be Umeboshi (pickled plums). So, I would say Umemate or Umeparents.
This is a book creating new words which do not exist but people can imagine how they are like, such as Vegemate.
At first glance, this book looks like a English dictionary, but there is no normal vocabulary. All of words are original and made by the author/his family, friends or radio listeners. I think creating new words is interesting. I sometimes wonder languages don't have enough words to describe everything. Definitely there is a space of feelings without words. Then, this book says like, "How about creating new ones by our selves?" That's such a nice challenging.
I was surprised that "Mister Minit" came out in description of a word. Japan also has that! In the part of description, it says "or at very least". I like this expression, because it's interesting and it made me laugh. The word starts from "K". I was glad to find a common point with Aussie.
On the other hand, some words are difficult to understand for me. Probably, some are related to Australian products or TV programs? Or, it might be difference from sense of humor.
