The Sense of Order: A Study in the Psychology of Decorative Art
Impressive work and analysis. Some real gems in this book, but it was also hard to follow at times since the author cited many other works. On the other hand, many visual examples are given throughout, and I enjoyed the feeling of seeing the with new light. Favorite bits included understanding how we interpret patterns, how people have tried to organize them, and how motifs propagated according to "force of habit." The epilogue though, felt overly ambitious as attempted to explored the relationships to music.
