Individual Biochemical Tests offers 41 chapters, each devoted to a single biochemical test; nine new tests have been added since the last edition.The Multi-Test Systems section provides commercially prepared multi-testing kits, media, and alternate procedures for bacterial identification, while section three is broken into three chapters providing identification schemata of medically important bacteria. New color plates, new nomenclature, and identification tables and flow charts are included.

The book contains predominantly black-and-white illustrations, with some color illustrations.
