Mayor: notes on the sixties Book

Ivan Allen, Jr. was mayor of Atlanta from 1962-1970 - the height of the Civil Rights movement. His story of Atlanta during those years is fascinating, although his prose is fairly pedestrian. He's very straightforward in his presentation, and he discusses some significant events in the city's history - the desegregation of the city's department stores and lunch counters, the building of Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium and the acquisition of the Braves and Falcons, the passage of the public accommodations bill, the race riots during the summer of 1966, the death of MLK,Jr. - from an insider's perspective. It's interesting reading if you are into Atlanta history.
