Silly Milly by Wendy Lewison
This was a very cute story for young children to read that are on reading level A. The illustrations invite students in, but also provides hints for them as they are learning to read new words. Not only does this story have bright and colorful illustrations but this story also is a riddle that allow the students to think critically about the story.
When reading this with my kindergarten students, they reread the story again when they realized that Silly Milly was a riddle. They went back to double check all of Milly's words to make sure all of the things she liked were words with double letters. This was not only a good read for practice, but the children really enjoyed the story and so did I.
