Volcanoes (Watts Library Series) Book

This book is about volcanoes around the world. It describes how volcanoes erupt and the magnitude of it. The illustrations in this book are actual pictures of volcanoes and people. I gave this book 4 stars because the information is useful and interesting. I enjoyed looking at the graphs and seeing how many people volcanoes effect since the early 1900's. This book reminded me of my science class in 5th grade when we were talking about lava and how hot it is.

This is an awesome resource to have in the classroom. I am currently using it for a study on habitats. There are plenty of vocabulary words in this book that will have students talking like scientists by the end of the science unit. We are reading this book all week (1 chapter a day) and noting the habitats that surround volcanoes. We are noticing that volcanoes are mostly in warm and tropical regions of the world. My students are making a rain forest habitat and are including a volcano! This book is geared towards 6th-8th grade but I am reading it aloud to my 4th graders.
