Nanotech
Another book that was required reading for my class on monsters and nightmares in literature, and yep, this one was definitely nightmare fuel. If one of the characters having his DNA "seared" so that he can immolate his eyebrow hairs by touching them doesn't freak you out, the guy who slowly replaces a homeless woman with the DNA of his dead wife certainly will. I liked some of these ten stories: Margin of Error, Axiomatic, and We Were Out of Our Minds with Joy were my top three. But some of them, unfortunately, were just completely incomprehensible. Much of it isn't the kind of sci-fi I enjoy, I'm sorry to say, but the three I listed were BIG favorites. Best quote: "We were out of our minds with joy. Joy in full bloom and out of control, like weeds in our manicured lives."
