Series: The first in a series.

Sexy times:Yes, steam factor 2 in comparison to a Joanna Shupe being a Regency Steam Factor 4.

Synopsis Heroine's brother has died in service (not a spoiler so settle down peeps) and hero comes to tell her the news. He's made a pact with said dying brother to protect heroine "no matter what" *foreshadowing*. Hero ends up sorta married to heroine for reasons you need to read about and this is a story about their journey from sorta to definitely married. Cue the swoon.



Heroine: Eve. Gotta love her. She's willing to be tough as nails while she puts on her Save the World cape.

Hero: Aiden. Stiff. Gruff. Hard. He's an admitted killer being a military man. He's got no idea how to connect with another human being and here he's been tossed in to the literal lap of a woman who knows nothing but connection. Tear down those walls, Ms. Eve. You can do it!



Why it did or didn't work for me: It worked! All over the place. What a great listen while I drive to work or clean the house. Rosalyn, you are a queen among queens. The voice that makes any commute worthwhile.

This is not to take anything away from the book. Ms. Balogh crafts an excellent story of a stiff tonnish family being faced with a woman from the proverbial wrong side of the tracks giving them the finger and doing it with grace and style. She moves them ALL from being stuffy brats to at least starting to learn that they are all real people with real feelings. Most of all, she breaks right through Mr Military Man and it's brilliant.
