Really boring. Epic head-hopping/scene-shifting. Bizarre insertion of paranormal woo-woo. Mary Sue & Gary Stu.
I just don't care.
While I still hold out hope for other VH books, this one was a slog & not interesting at all. Maybe if I was more in tune with that era...? *shrug* All I know is the dialogue sounded more Regency than Medieval, & the Medieval trappings themselves were glossy & token at best, with the hero's weird supernatural senses intruding rather awkwardly. Topping it off, the pace was awful; scenes shifted without warning & the action often relayed dispassionately or second-hand.
DNF.
