The Conqueror (De Warenne Dynasty Series) Book

Sometimes you read a book and feel badly about how much you enjoyed it. This is one of those books. So, he rapes her. He tries to rape her when they first meet, then rapes her for reals later. And she loves him . . . O.o I shake my head at myself. I feel like I should be really upset about this, but I'm not. FOR SHAME! I am shamed. Moving on.

I was going to put this book down after the first chapter because I couldn't stop making this face:



But I kept reading instead.

Rolf (or however you spell his name) is a tortured hero from a different time. He definitely doesn't soften over time. He is hard core.

Cierde (or however you spell her name) is fine. I liked her fine. Some of the things that happened to her felt convenient and she was definitely a doormat at times, but given the fact that this took place during the time of William the Conqueror, I'm not going to judge her too harshly.

Also? She had a wandering eye. #BADASS



So, there you have it. I found I couldn't put it down, perversely or not, I couldn't stop reading. Therefore, it gets 5 stars.
