When the proposals begin pouring in, she is very picky, wanting the perfect husband to go with her perfect life. After declining two pursuers because they would keep her from her beauty sleep, she is delighted when a gentle cat proposes and claims that he will not keep her up at night. She is excited, and agrees to marry him. In the end, the conceited little rat finds her happy ending, and the cat leaves the wedding happy...if a little bit fatter. This is a good read that will help teach children about the dangers of vanity. It tells a great story in both languages, although the Spanish has a delightfully catchy rhythm. Children will also enjoy the unique style of the illustrations.
