I'm going there! It's super Buddhist! And this book is a delightful account of his time there. Two quotes:
After five days alone in nature: "I need to be taught how to work with what I have begun to know here; I need to find a man or woman who has learnt the language whose first, simplest, words I am stammering"
Talking to Jam Yang, a friend of a friend:
"You must write and I must be a guide. It is our svaha, our nature. Perhaps next time we will be luckier, less condemned to our different vanities. I will talk less and you will carry no big black notebooks, full of illegible writing."
