Let nothing you dismay Book

The first few pages and last couple of pages of this book were the best part. It's the pity that everything in between had to ruin it.

The sort of contrary, lost-conflictedness of the main character came through quite strongly-- surprisingly strongly that I felt an intense level of resonance with. Thinking, much as I did with Kamikaze Girls, that I might find a character that would really be like ME. A ME from a male point of view.

Unfortunately I was disappointed as the character wandered from one pointless scene to the next, never really defining what his issues were, or lack thereof. He doesn't have a point, so therefore even his meandering is just an exercise in meandering. He doesn't even meander anywhere interesting. Literally, I think the entire middle section of the book could have been cut out, and it wouldn't have effected the main narrative.

Not worth the time to read. Just pick it up for the interesting beginning and end, and you've got the entire story right there.
