Secreto De Mujer Book

Awwwww. This was so sweeeeeeeet. And it was so refreshing to see two people able to work through their problems in an adult way! Sure they fought, sure they tried to hurt each other, but at the end of the day they had a baby on the way, and with maturity and compassion they were able to overcome their differences and fall in love. Success!

A big portion of this book follows the pregnancy from about 20 weeks to delivery. So that was nice. Usually the Harlequin books I've read usually have the father never knowing about the baby or usually the couple overcomes their differences and find true love's kiss after the baby is born. Since I'm pregnant, having the pregnancy be a big feature in this book was a very welcome thing.

A friend had told me that I was probably going to start liking pregnancy themed romances now that I'm "with child." And if this book is any indication-I would say she is right! Though I suspect this book being good is a big factor. It's just that now I can relate on a whole new level:

"Sometimes you’re so sick that you tell yourself you’ll never eat another thing—just so you won’t be able to be sick.’
‘And then?’
She shrugged. ‘Then the baby must send some message to your brain, or your stomach—or something. Because suddenly you discover that you could devour just about everything in the fridge—and then some! You feel like one of those locusts you see on nature films— the kind that march around stripping everything bare..."

Before I would have chuckled after reading that, but now I couldn't stop laughing at how true it is. But don't think this book's charm is only about the (not so much) joy of pregnancy, it was because of Marcus and Donna's strong personalities. Sure Marcus was kind of a git to her in the beginning. But while Donna may have been a smitten, knocked up, kitten, she at least gives as good as she gets. I also liked how Marcus was able to change his shallow, preconceived notions about Donna's family. *pokes all the other stubborn Harlequin 'heroes' in the head* (one in particular *grumble*)

This was a charming, well written and quite humorous little gem and I'm glad I found it. Enjoy!
