Ladder to the sky Book

I tend to be skeptical of non-native people sharing native stories, and I'd be curious to know what the Ojibway people think about this book. It's a children's book that depicts how the Ojibway people learned to heal through the use of plants as medicines. In the story, the Ojibway people live with a magical vine that connects them with the spirit world in the heavens. So long as no one ever touches this vine, no one ever becomes sick or dies, they are simply guided to the heavens when they are old. One day, the grandmother of a young man who was taken into the spirit world for his own protection, tries to climb the vine to retrieve her grandson. Ultimately she fails and the vine crashes to the earth. Once this happens, people begin to get sick and die. Taking pity on them, the inhabitants of the spirit world return to earth and show the Ojibway people how to use plants to treat and cure disease.
