The text of Martin Heidegger's 1930-1931 lecture course on Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit contains some of Heidegger's most crucial statements about temporality, ontological difference and dialectic, and being and time in Hegel. Within the context of Heidegger's project of reinterpreting Western thought through its central figures, Heidegger takes up a fundamental concern of Being and Time, "a dismantling of the history of ontology with the problematic of temporality as a clue." Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit
The point of this text is not to just make the Phenomenology of Spirit 'easier' or more 'comprehensible', but rather to bring forth the rigor required for an engagement with the text it engages with. Heidegger concludes the book with "The first and proper indication that you have understood something of what was essentially unspoken, but constantly at issue here, can only take the form of awakening in you a will to do justice to the work in its innermost demand'each for his part and according to his ability and measure."
Through his discussion of Being and Time found in the inner bowels of the Phenomenology to his own unique usage of language, Heidegger brings forth the Phenomenology of Spirit in a new bright glimmering light.
