Military Economics: The Interaction of Power and Money Book

I could not move beyond he initial chapters of this text. Yet, I chose to review this one because it aimed to provide an "accessible introduction" to military economics. I take the liberty of interpreting accessibility hereby is directed towards practitioners and non-academicians who will be interested to learn the important underpinning of the subject matter.
However, what the book has is a reinterpretation of fundamental economic principles and their working within military systems. Now that may be assumed to be what exactly what the books aims to do. But hold on !
The first issue with the book is that it lacks any actionable and practitioner (for reference, am a business analyst on the defence side) insight and just concentrates on nuggets to demonstrate how economic principles and tools get adjusted in the military sense. Secondly, it is spread too thin by inculcating a very wide set of contexts, which fails to give any deep understanding of anything. This in my opinion has happened because it is fundamentally an economists gaze at the military rather than the other way round. Consequentially, it might be a very interesting read for an economist. However, practitioners have little genuine takeaways; and because this book was aimed at (in the most humble of my opinion) at people like me, I am giving it a two star.
