Frustratingly under-theorized and under-contextualized. The source material and length of the field work gave it the potential to provide some really fascinating information. Instead we get a catalogue of behaviours and descriptions with no real insight into why the dynamics operate as they do, and so, crucially, no tools to think through what kind of policy or social intervention might be of any use.
