Songs of Zion: The African Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States and South Africa
Rereading this, essential for Maxeke and the AMEC in SA. Battle a bit with the Old Testament aspect but the social history is marvelous. Campbell writes very well and the breadth of his research is staggering.
