The death of psychiatry Book

The text of five talks given by the author, who had been a pupil of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein decades before, to psychiatric medical colleagues: "Words and Transgressions," "Science and Psychology," "Concerning Body and Mind," "Hypotheses and Philosophy," and "Madness and Religion," plus a brief "Preface." It's quite short, just 137 pages.

To sum it up: "Wisdom demands that we remember constantly our ignorance."; "'The existence of experimental methods makes us think we have means of solving problems which trouble us; though problems and methods pass one another by.'"; "...however much the realm of what is explained is extended, the realm of the inexplicable is never reduced by one iota."; "The great philosophical danger in every natural science is to confuse an hypothesis with a fact."; and "The distinction between the pathological and religious state of mind cannot be made because it does not exist."

Deceptively simple and straightforward, it's worth some thought. Quite a bit, actually.
