The Road to Organic Growth
This book is written like an extended (and extremely repetitive) academic paper with some company stories interspersed to prove the author's points. The research methodology is possibly flawed, and it seems as though the author is more interested in finding company traits to prove his assertions rather than building his assertions around the results of his research.
The biggest problem with this book is that the author repeats his assertions so many time, you almost know they're coming before they do. Every time he mentions a certain company, he again describes what the company does. I counted at least seven times in the book in which Hess explains (again) that American Eagle is a company that sells clothing marketed to 15-25 year-olds.
It's a poorly written book--mildly interesting, but with a flawed structure.
