Gloria Allred is a polarizing figure, to say the least. I personally like her, even if I don't always agree with her methods. Such was the case with this book. I picked it up and read it with the intention of knowing more about her legal battles, but what I got was a bunch of self-aggrandizing passages with some everyday legal know-how. Often she talks about her cases as the opposing counsel being filled with backwoods ignoramuses and her being the brilliant attorney dropping witty quips like a sitcom or something. I don't know if she actually said any of the things she claims to have said during the trials because it comes off like bizarre Must See TV lines half of the time.

Each chapter ends with some practical take away lessons that are either common sense or are only loosely related to the subject of the case. She discusses both famous cases and little known ones as well. However, the writing style is filled with a lilting voice of putting herself on a pedestal while portraying the other side as either ameteurish or laughably old fashioned. For someone who I expect to be fair and balanced, her book comes off as written to be anything but - which is a real shame in my estimation.
