Everyone loves Alfred with his silly, round face and his big, wet, sloppy kisses.
Everyone except Alfred. Alfred especially doesn't like his nose. It's just not a true dog nose.
Maybe a costume could give him a new look. Or perhaps a mask.
Can Alfred really find the perfect nose?
Vivienne Flesher's winsome story and humorous photographs capture the sometimes bumpy road it takes to realize one's true self.
This is a clever, cute story based on the author's own French bulldog. The cover photograph is enough to entice the reader to open this book. Children will love the antics this little dog goes through to disguise his nose. Poor Alfred does not like the way he looks. His face is all wrong. His head is round as a pumpkin and mostly he hates his nose. There is not much a dog can do to change his appearance, but Alfred sure tries hard enough and this makes the book a real delight for kids. This little dog tries everything from glasses through an assortment of animal noses. The photographs taken by the author are hilarious, especially Alfred wearing the elephant nose. But nothing pleases poor Alfred. When he finally gives up, everyone cheers. "We love you just the way you are, Alfred!" they tell him. He kisses all his friends but there is still one small problem. Kids will love the ending. Reviewer: Joan Elste
