Born Isabelle Yasmine Adjani on June 27, 1955 in Gennevilliers, France.
Her father was an Algerian of Turkish ancestry, and her mother was
German. Adjani is one
of France's leading actresses who first earned critical praise at age 17
as a member of the Comedie Francaise. She was nominated for an Academy
Award for the film "The Story of Adel�le H", which was directed by
Fran�ois Truffaut. She won the French Cesar Award for "Possession", "One
Deadly Summer", and "Camille Claudel". Isabelle was named Best Actress
in Cannes in 1981 for "Possession" and "Quartet". She won the French
Cesar awards for "Possession" in 1981, "One Deadly Summer" in 1983 and
"Camille Claudel" in 1988. "Camille Claudel" also earned her the Berlin
Festival Best Actress prize. She
had a son named Narnabe with Bruno Nuytten, and then in April 1995 she
had a daughter with Daniel Day-Lewis named Gabriel-Kane. Her and Daniel
