Adams, Jane (II) 1965 --

Actress. Born Jane Adams on April 1, 1965 in Washington D.C. A rising player of American stage and screen, Jane Adams began her professional career shortly after graduating from Juilliard in 1989 when she was cast as Michael J Fox's love interest in the final two-part episode of NBC's "Family Ties". The next year, the dark-haired, doe-eyed player made her TV-movie debut in "Rising Son" (TNT, 1990) and her first feature film, "Vital Signs". Subsequently, Adams has played numerous supporting roles, including the bohemian artist Ruth Hale in "Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle" (1994), Dr. Eisenberg, taming Steve Martin in "Father of the Bride II" (1995) and as a member of the ensemble of Robert Altman's period drama "Kansas City" (1996). Adams has also stayed true to her stage roots and won applause and awards for her work in Paul Rudnick's Broadway romp, "I Hate Hamlet" (1991), the National Actors' Theatre revival of Arthur Miller's "The Crucible" and the acclaimed revival of "An Inspector Calls" (1994), for which she received a Tony Award as Best Supporting Actress. She made her TV series debut in the ensemble of the ABC drama series "Relativity" (1996-97).
