Review # 1 was written on 2013-05-09 00:00:00 Marco Deyasi A lighthearted whimsical tale, appropriate for many age levels, and complete with a subtle, yet important, deeper message. One of my favorite books from the first read! Full of profound wisdom and touching moments that are sure to melt the coldest heart. Excerpt: "Though this universe I own, I possess not a thing, for I cannot know the unknown if to the known I cling." There is no way that you could read this book and not be a better person for it. It's full of life lessons that sometimes we need to be reminded of. And if nothing else, you have to love the Squirrel! |
Review # 2 was written on 2021-02-04 00:00:00 David Smith "People are often unaware of the path they are on" This is a beautiful fairytale with profound messages whose purpose is to wake you up to your true/higher self and life in general. I didn't know this book was going to be spiritual so that took me by surprise. In essence it's a story about a knight who got stuck in his armor after deciding not to take it off at all times, so as to not lose time between his exploits of slaying dragons and rescuing damsels. One day his wife had enough and asked him to take it off or else she would leave with their son. The armor wouldn't budge and so the knight embarked on a journey to find out how to remove it. "We're all stuck in armor of a kind. Yours is merely easier to find." It touches on a lot of themes, my favourites being: accepting instead of expecting to avoid disappointment, putting up defences to protect yourself, how when you're with other people, you're so concerned of showing your best image that you can't let down your barriers and allow yourself or the other person to see what you're trying to hide, never ceasing to understand more and more whilst being on the Path of Truth, ambition from the heart by benefiting all instead of solely yourself and that by giving power to your doubts and fears instead of seeing them as the illusions that they truly are, you're harming yourself. Finally, letting go. This has become a favourite, I loved it very much!! I'm going to finish this review off with a quote: "Though this universe I own, I possess not a thing, for I cannot know the unknown if to the known I cling." |
