INTRODUCTION
In the past decade we've witnessed a tremendous boom in adult entertainment. Certainly, there's always been pornography, graphic sex in print or in pictures, first still and then moving, but never before in such sheer quantity. And never in such quality either, until the past few years. Not only are explicit sex movies more abundant, but there has been a quantum leap forward in their craftsmanship and production values. Exactly why this has happened can be attributed to a number of factors. The relaxed legal climate of recent years of course has been a major element; there's much more encouragement to make a good erotic movie when you don't have to worry about going to jail for it. Given these factors and the more liberated attitudes toward sex that developed during the Sixties, we bask today in a semi-golden era for erotic cinema. Not only has this given us some very fine and artistic films with explicit sex in them, but we now have our own X-rated star system.
