Vampires Not Invited (Night Tracker Series) Book

Nyx Ciar, is a dark elf, (drow), half human on her mothers side, Private Investigator and of course, a Night Tracker. She and her teammantes are back in action when a mischievous gang of sprites (fae who are extremely ugly, disgusting creatures. They have been wreaking havoc all over Manhattan. After taking charge of her sprites, and going to the Pit, (paranormal hangout); she overhears a conversation between a pair of vampires and realizes that there is a lot more at stake then cleaning up Lady Liberty's toenails.

Seems master vampire Volod and his coven mates are tired of being ignored and left out of the paranormal world, including it's council. He has a plan that will put him and his followers at the top of the food chain once and for all; that is unless Nyx and her allies puts an end to it fast. There are also more Vampires in and around NYC than anyone could imagine.

Nyx learns through an unlikely source (a sprite named Negel) that vampires have stolen all the classified documents that list each and every paranormals weaknesses. He plans plan to using it to force their demands on the Paranormal council and take over. They have also tried to steal the antidote and virus that humans tried to use on Werewolves in the last novel.

I still love Olivia (Nyk's PI Partner and former NYPD SWAT Officer) and her snarky T-Shirts and her bad attitude. Olivia is really peeved at Nyx for continuing to ignore her as a human, and leaving out important information, like the paranormal council. Nyx, finally, comes clean to both Olivia and her lover NYPD Detective Adam Boyd. Olivia is the only human tracker allowed on the Night Trackers roster, something that isn't taken very well by other members of the group.

Adam and Nyk seem to finally be kicking off a nice romantic interlude and by the end of the story, they are on vacation in Belize. (Love Belize!) OF course, the ending left a HUGE question! Ugh!

I am still having a problem with Nyx and the Victoria's Secret panties obsession. I mean really? I'm also glad your cat Kali shreds them constantly. Although that storyline gets silly pretty quickly as well.

The storyline with Volod doesn't end in this book, and it appears he may play another role in one of the next upcoming releases: Zombies Sold Separately (05/24/2011) and Vampires Dead Ahead (Fall 2011).

Hero of the book: Negel the sprite. He not only takes charge of his clan, but he puts himself into harms way in order to save Nyx. His ending was truly sad, but not unexpected.

Evil Villian: Volod, the Master Vampire who tries to take over NYC and expand. He then injects the virust into Nyk and bites her. (That should be another interesting storyline). He flees with his head in his arms. I mean come on!

My thoughts: Nyk is still a pompous bit for a character. We know already that you are a princess of Dow. Get over yourself already and trust your partners. She is very conceited as well. She believes that she is the only one that can stop these vampires, then walks into a trap and gets herself injected with the virus. Well done Nyk. She isn't even the hero of this story. I would like to see more of Rodan and what his true abilities are. These vampires are not like your other vampires. Instead of turning immediately, it takes them two bites from a vampire to turn. Then, they are put into a coffin where they rise from the groud 9 days later. This goes against everything you've ever read about vampires. Lastly, we get that your hair is Amethyst already. Please, if someone says your hair is purple, role with it and smile!
