James McPherson has made a huge success of his new life in a new country. He has a thriving business, a wife and three daughters, a beautiful home, a public image, and a private shame. A voice from his secret past, a voice calling from thousands of miles across the Atlantic Ocean in the thick dialect of the Edinburgh gutters haunts him.
Humor is hiding on nearly every page delivering smiles, chuckles and belly laughs. It is used masterfully as a literary tool to make places vivid and characters equally pitiful and triumphant. The "scottish brogue" portions weave seamlessly in and out of the narrative so that the reader settles into a story well told. I will await expectantly for another offering from this gifted author.
