John Muir and Stickeen: An Icy Adventure with a No-Good Dog
Interesting picture book about John Muir before he was famous for backpacking with Theodore Roosevelt or for his work with the Sierra Club. This is a story of an unlikely friendship between Muir and a dog named Stickeen that accompanied him and other naturalist while studying glaciers in Alaska. Stickeen's lovable and undaunted personality made Muir rethink his opinion of domesticated animals.
I thought the illustrations were beautiful and the story was touching; however, most kids will probably find it less than entertaining.
