Engaged to Die (Death on Demand Series #14) Book

This story was a bore. While the Death on Demand series was initially very good, the stories now seem like a re-hash. In this one, it was fairly obvious who the murderer was very early on. Also, the constant references to Annie and Max's romantic liaisons became tiresome. We get it, Annie. Max is a hottie. We get it, Max, you want to get into bed with Annie at least 3x a day. Each of these books also feature a contest, where Annie hires a painter EACH month, to create several paintings of book covers. The first one of her mystery book store customers to correctly guess the book featured in each painting, wins a book. Every Death on Demand book features this, the expense and time of doing such a contest is so improbable it has become annoying. We get it, author. You want to show off your mystery trivia skills. Same with the character Henny. In the midst of murder, these non sequiturs keep getting thrown out - Henny quizzes Annie about mystery books and characters in the middle of a conversation about the murder. This is why each book seems like a re-hash. Annie is immature and blunders off. And no wonder her bookstore cat, Agatha bites. She is left alone and locked up overnight in the bookstore every night. I was hoping Billy would put Annie in jail for interference but of course Billy never did interrogate anyone who attended the party. There were not even glimmers of reality in this one.
